Our location in--Santa Clara, CA--currently has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer, Mechanical.------ The Alinity h-system is an automated system that is used for analysis of Hematological samples. It is composed of electromechanical subsystems that must interface with each other to perform sample preparation and analysis of patient samples. Each subsystem must meet its individual requirements and interface with other subsystems to ensure that instrument requirements are met.The Senior Engineer is accountable for delivering significant portions of programs with some level of novelty.----The engineer is also accountable for organizing and managing work, investigating issues, defining behaviors, leading others in the execution of work, applying expertise and validating designs and products for systems.---- System Integration aspects of the role include developing new product designs and design improvements on instrumentation in the medical device field. Writing & executing system integration test protocols, developing new instrument procedures and analyzing performance data will be essential to the role. Accountable for applying a deep understanding of engineering applications, behaviors, and architected solutions to streamline product development in addition to ensuring product quality.----Works with a cross functional team to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements and performance requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.----Will support multiple project efforts in parallel.---- WHAT YOU---LL DO

  • Contributes to programs while exercising significant novelty and integration across various disciplines as well as team members.----
  • Plans and executes integration studies, development of risk management activities; gathers information, frames problems, devises/executes plans, tracks progress, and adjusts/measures success within scope of responsibility to improve development efforts as well as the organization.----Applies skills to planning product development work, capturing requirements, designing solutions, defining behaviors, investigating issues, evaluating trade-offs, and validating output
  • Organizes and manages work to deliver programs, leads in the execution of assigned work.----Prioritizes tasks by distinguishing urgent from important tasks and assess cost/benefit trade-offs.
  • Fosters collaboration with cross-functional teams, platform architects and other leaders to drive work to completion and resolve issues.------Successfully influences stakeholders.----Communicates effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.----Keeps leadership informed of progress and issues.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.----Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Provides leadership and guidance to junior team members
  • Identifies, confirms, and interprets interacting causes & effects behind instrument issues, discrepancies, problems or complaints in accordance with governing procedures
  • Advanced troubleshooting across multiple system functions (hardware and software or hardware and assay performance problems).
  • Defines investigative paths for and confirms Complaint Handling investigations to closure.
  • Translates requirements into new solutions - Develops requirements and specifications for new and existing engineering designs.
  • Responsible for updating / creating detailed design specifications for components or subsystems.
  • Verifies Solution - Responsible for protocol development and verification of subsystem or system designs.
  • Documenting and Managing Change - Justifies changes, quality and regulatory information, and manufacturing readiness information.
  • Completes change documentation to include technical rationale and formal verification test results.
  • Anticipates and/or Develops/Applies Risk Mitigation - Evaluates engineering technical risks and identifies alternatives, makes recommendations and takes appropriate actions EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU---LL BRING Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or closely related discipline.--
    • Applies engineering technical knowledge for specified engineering discipline for subsystem development.
    • In depth knowledge and understanding of product or discipline.
    • Moderate knowledge of external regulations and standards affecting IVDs and biologics.
    • 4 years progressive work experience with degree or sufficient transferable experience to demonstrate functional equivalence to a degree Preferred Qualifications
      • Bachelor---s Degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Optical, Electrical)
      • Minimum 6 years--- Experience in a Biosciences or Engineering capacity
      • Experience in a clinical laboratory performing integration testing preferred
      • Knowledge of electro-mechanical, optical, or fluidic systems
      • Familiarity with engineering design and control analysis tools such as: MATLAB, SIMULINK, ZEMAX, ANSYS, etc. preferred
      • Experience planning and executing hardware / software integration activities preferred
