revolutionary Apple products?The Apple Watch Touch team is looking
for a talented mechanical engineer to influence new designs as well
as own and drive validation for new products and sensing
technologies. You will work within a cross-functional team of
experts whose shared goal is to ship products that surprise and
delight our customers and break new ground in technology. Millions
of customers will interact with the hardware you invent, develop
and validate.
- At least 4+ years of experience in a mechanical design, failure
analysis, or validation role.
- Ability to inform design intent (requirements) and define
path-to-validation.
- Ability to leverage various analysis techniques (tolerance
analysis, FEA, CT, X-ray, FIB/SEM/EDX, Monte Carlo,
design-of-experiments, etc.) to inform root cause.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse cross-functional team and
external vendors to achieve project goals.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills are
required.
- Familiarity with building 3D CAD and drafting 2D technical
drawings is required.
- Strong technical curiosity and desire to learn is
required.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis in MATLAB or JMP is
preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with sensor technology, analog/digital signals,
flex circuits, IC packaging is preferred, but not required You will
work on the mechanical design, integration and validation of the
next generation of Apple Watch touch sensors. You would work and
learn alongside a talented group from many engineering fields
including electrical engineering, thin-films, quality, process,
reliability, and more. As your expertise grows within the role, you
will inform hardware design that will shape and create new customer
experiences.As one of the mechanical experts of touch technology,
you will be responsible your piece of the project:-
Identifying/brainstorming design solutions, grading risk, and
informing final design.- Leading a cross-functional team through
failure analysis to identify root-cause and inform corrective
actions.- Coordinating and managing the path-to-closure on complex,
multi-faceted issues.- Applying rigorous and thoughtful
experimental design to reduce design risk/uncertainty as quickly as
possible.- Running tolerance studies to ensure designs are feasible
over manufacturing tolerances.- Communicating to Apple's
engineering leadership in concise, comprehensive technical depth.In
the prototyping and validation phases, you will support external
manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause
analysis for issues found during testing. Support for our vendors
includes international travel between 15% and 25%.At the end of the
