Supporting the product development process between prototype design and manufacturing are key focuses in our Engineered Solutions Group. The Product Engineer B, located in Santa Clara, provides high quality technical expertise to assist fellow YAI engineers and customers. The ideal candidate will display a driven attitude and capacity toward learning and mastering motion automation technology with engineering knowledge acquired learned at the university or through professional experience.
Qualifications:

• BS Degree with focus studies in mechanical, electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent related work experience.
• Strong background in Mechatronics, Robotics, motion path-planning.
• Understands and is knowledgeable in discrete automation solutions specifically in the Servo Motion Control area.
• Software Expertise: Scripting languages such as Python/Lua, PLC Programming, Structure text (such as C, Basic, VB)
• Experience with CAD, e.g. Solidworks.
• Minimum three to five years of field experience or equivalent involving YAI, Inc. or competitor product lines, applications and projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  
  The Product Engineering group engages in many activities which make the job interesting and non-repetitive. Some detailed job responsibilities include:
  • Support large OEM customers with applications development.
  • Support custom product: conceptual design, development, testing for large OEM customers.
  • Become well versed with all Servo, Motion Control, and Machine Control products and lab equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise to assist customers in the use of their application and industry processes of Yaskawa products and services to exceed customer needs.
  • Support application projects from concept to completion: Channel Partners/Distributors (VAR/ASC/MSC), OEM, End Users, System Integrators, Key Accounts.
  • Answer product and application questions from customers: Channel Partners/Distributors (VAR/ASC/MSC), Sales, OEM's, End Users, and System Integrators.
  • Perform and coordinate YAI, Inc. services S1-S5: (Product selection, hands-on assistance for equipment start-up, product and applications training, technical support).
  • Assist field service, technical support, and repair groups with the diagnosis and repair of electrical equipment at the customers' site.
  • Solve application installation problems over the telephone or by visiting the customer site.
  • Support product and application projects from other Yaskawa business divisions.
  • Research, document, and recommend solutions for product enhancements on quality control issues.
  • Assist engineering and development with testing of new products, options, and software.
  • Primary liaison between QC and customers on quality related issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.
