By getting more from technology to get more from life.We have an opportunity in our Santa Clara, CA -office for a Field Applications Engineer. -This outstanding opportunity allows technically minded engineers to broaden their system engineering skills and application knowledge, while gaining sales and marketing experience. The candidate will be responsible for application support at the system level, with a strong focus on Wi-Fi and embedded firmware, working with the ST wireless connectivity portfolio comprising Arm Cortex-M based microcontrollers with embedded Wi-Fi connectivity.The primary activity will be supporting customers on firmware system level solutions leading to design wins. The job will require hands-on and other activities as part of the Wireless Lab in our Santa Clara, California office, that include:

• Providing technical support for Wi-Fi and MCU products to an assigned customer base to drive design wins in consumer, commercial and industrial applications
• Discussing initial concepts and architecture with customers leading to prototypes of proof of concepts and system validation
• Reviewing firmware and application designs
• Debugging customer prototypes using lab instruments that include an oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, and network analyzer
• Validating customer schematics and block diagrams
• Understanding customer system solutions, design decision and trade-offs, and making recommendations on product selection that best positions ST products and solutions
• Developing and/or assembling demos needed for supporting promotional activities in the field
• Traveling (up to 50%) to multiple locations for customer engagementsProfile
  • BS Electrical or Electronic Engineering (MS preferred)
  • 2 to 5 years of experience with a strong background on wireless communication systems and embedded firmware
  • In-depth knowledge of wireless communication protocols such as IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax
  • In-depth knowledge of modem architectures and MCU architectures, RF experience is desirable
  • Experience reading and analyzing schematics
  • Experience with mixed signal designs with solid analog and digital competency
  • Experience with lab instruments for wireless applications
  • Good problem-solving attitude that includes proposing solutions and debugging issues
  • Strong technical focus with excellent presentation and written communication skills
  • Communication interface experience with the following: SPI, UART, I2C, ADC, DMA,
  • Strong diverse interpersonal skills required to manage customer contacts as well as internal interfaces
  • The curiosity and passion to support customer projects and comfort working in a target driven environment
