POSITION SUMMARY:
The Jetting Technology Center is responsible for the development of
printhead technologies and operating techniques with the goal of
implementation into future printhead products. These technology
development activities include jet design, jetting operability,
image quality evaluation, and jetting performance evaluation.
The Development Engineer will be responsible for working in the
Jetting Technology Center applying advanced mechanical engineering
theories, methods and research techniques in the investigation and
solution of core technology problems. This position will contribute
to the expansion of our inkjet printhead technology through
development of new performance evaluation tools and improving our
understanding of underlying device physics.
Strong interest to work in a hands-on laboratory environment, the
ability to accurately measure printhead performance, and provide
detailed analysis of results. Works closely with fellow JTC team
members to define and implement new performance evaluation
techniques and with the Product R&D team to provide feedback on
potential design implementation.

area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative
ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented,
journey-level position.

evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in
selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks
with senior internal and external personnel in own area of
expertise.
SUPERVISION
Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general
instructions on new assignments.
EXPERIENCE
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with
a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD
without experience; or equivalent work experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conceives and plans projects involving exploration of product
and/or process problems, definition and selection of new concepts
and approaches to the design or development of new or improved
products and processes.
Conducts independent technical investigations involving the
application of the principles of electromechanical design in the
origination or modification of material, component or process
specifications and requirements.
Design of hardware and software control systems. Including
oversight of assembly / debug / qualification / implementation.
Takes ownership of test efficiency and effectiveness. Seeks out
opportunities to improve jetting performance evaluation techniques
in both short and long term.
Directs projects or major phases of projects and coordinates the
efforts of technical support staff.
Analyzes, evaluates and plans methods of approach and organizes
means to achieve the solution of complex jet design and jetting
operability issues.
Works cross-functionally with, Business Development, Operations,
Product Development, and outside Partners (Customers &
Suppliers)
Understands and enhances custom design tools to improve our ink jet
technology platform through modeling and analysis.
Provides core technology support for other projects as needed

Advanced problem-solving skills utilizing science and engineering
education to arrive at practical solutions.
Familiarity with statistical methods
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work individually as well as interact with vendors,
customers, and other engineers
A strong interest and desire to work in a hands-on laboratory
environment
Excellent interpersonal skills required to gain cross functional
support for projects, programs, and initiatives.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry
and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios,
and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw
valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and
concrete variables.
DESIRED:
Knowledge of ink jet printing systems
Proficiency in MatLab
