Position Summary:

eHealth is looking for a passionate, experienced, versatile, and an ambitious leader with strong technical and social skills to manage a team of QA Engineers at various locations in the US. As a technology company, we are transforming the Health Care industry. We are building exciting shopping experience and next generation integration platform. You will be part of a world class team in building scalable web applications that empower eHealth sales agents to connect with customers and provide them with best-in-class sales experience. These mission-critical sales tools enable sales agents to effectively manage customer relationships and guide customers through complex purchasing decisions. You will champion the quality of our features in our test pipeline using both manual and automated test strategies. You will work closely with Engineering Owners, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, and other cross functional teams in order to ensure the features we deliver have a high level of quality. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to propose improvements to our existing processes and automated tools in order to improve the teams speed, quality and efficiency.

As a Senior Manager in SQA (based in Santa Clara, California), you will drive the testing and project reporting for the teams. You're a people first, long term thinker, who strives to drive improvements into the people, processes, test methodologies, and technologies for your global QA teams. You'll be leading the effort to empower your team leads to improve efficiency. You will work with other QA managers in US/China to share learnings and insights from both success and failure as well as establish long-term strategies for the Quality organization. Through this collaboration you'll work to improve processes, technology, and techniques. You will process data from multiple QA teams onshore/offshore, draw meaningful conclusions, and present valuable recommendations to leadership. You must be flexible and able to bounce between varied tasks efficiently. You will be accountable for driving day-to-day operations in Santa Clara and communicating with our offshore teams while advocating for a high-quality bar.

Responsibilities include:


  • Manage diverse teams based in the US effectively and collaborate well with geographically distributed teams onshore/offshore
  • Responsible for all aspects of test workflow. Strategize automation test coverage and be involved in developing test strategies and in creation of test plans. Report project metrics to measure our success.
  • Leverage technology (tools, automation, advanced techniques) to increase productivity and team member impact
  • Drive the holistic quality efforts for multiple projects being developed/tested in US/China
  • Be a key member in quality leadership team, working to drive improvements in processes and technology across the entire global QA organization
  • Evangelize best practices in testing and be a strong advocate of QA in cross functional meetings
  • Demonstrate passion and dedication to delivering the highest quality products
  • Connect, facilitate close interaction, and build relationships with Product Management, Technical Program Management, Development, Communications Engineering, and IT to ensure on time high quality deliverables

    Skills/Preferred Qualifications:

    • MS in Computer Science or similar field
    • 8+ years of direct people management experience as a QA Manager
    • 10+ years of industry software QA experience on various QA test methodologies and tools
    • Proven ability to think strategically
    • Demonstrated experience in effectively influencing and mentoring team members at all levels in QA organization
    • Experience managing multiple projects and processes cross-functionally
    • Possess deep understanding of SQA best practices and be an advocate for QA process
    • Experience writing automation in one or more scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, Perl, Ruby, Java, etc.)
    • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication capabilities
    • Able to work across time zones (US/Mexico/China), regions, cultures, disciplines, and personalities.
    • Experience with agile development methodologies with test driven development and continuous delivery
    • Ability to describe how you led team members to improve and develop their skill-sets and measurable accomplishments
    • Experience working closely with onshore/offshore teams (development/QA/cross functional business teams) to ensure that the highest quality software is deployed safely and quickly
    • Must have a proven track record of generating/publishing metrics, documenting test results, and status reports
    • Demonstrated innovative and creative thinking capabilities to improve test coverage and effectiveness
