The Core OS Energy Technologies group is looking for a hardworking and experienced technical software engineering manager to lead the team designing and implementing thermal management control algorithms across iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS products. Apple's industry-leading designs and powerful systems require our products to be controlled under tight constraints using state of the art thermal management technologies. Our thermal management solutions allow devices to achieve stellar performance for our most immersive games or connected applications while staying cool and maintaining a great overall user experience. In this unique and highly visible role, working closely with system architecture teams, product design, quality assurance, and several other technology groups at Apple, you will lead your team to define, develop and productize novel thermal management monitoring and control algorithms; aiming to invent a roadmap of scalable system thermal solutions with delightful customer experience always in mind.Key QualificationsExperience leading a systems software or firmware development teamStrong embedded software engineering skillsGenuine passion for system engineering, hardware/software integration, and obsession over delightful customer experience with productsConsistent track record of successful and timely software product delivery with complex dependenciesPassionate about designing effective algorithms, inspired by the analysis of big dataDemonstrated innovative critical thinking and troubleshooting skillsExcellent collaborative skills including written and verbal communicationHistory of motivating teams to meet ambitious goals and innovateExperience developing and shipping power/performance/thermal management algorithms is a plusFamiliarity with control theory or machine learning is a plusDescription- Lead a team of experienced thermal management software engineers - Work in a multi-functional environment with system architects, thermal product design, and other system software teams - Track project status and deliverables, and create/refine internal team processes to improve workflows - Define all feature development scoping and planning for successful product delivery - Run several projects and conflicting priorities, acting as technical leader when design directions are ambiguous - Communicate status and progress clearly to upper management and cross-functional partners -Balance high quality product delivery under tight schedules while fostering long term innovation - Strengthen the team by hiring, retaining, and growing top engineering talenEducation & ExperienceBachelor, Master degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related field
