Demand and Supply Planning Manager

Job Location: Santa Clara, CA

Job Term: Full-Time



The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations based in Santa Clara, this position will manage and drive improvements in both the S&OP process and master production scheduling process to ensure that factory output matches customer demand in the short-term and long-term while carrying minimum effective inventory. The Master Scheduler will work closely with Sales and Marketing to determine customer demand and supply chain, production planning and manufacturing to produce a plan consistent with total factory capacity and the sales forecast. The qualified individual must be able to facilitate complex scheduling for all aspects of production and possess substantial product, plant, process and market knowledge as their actions have a significant impact on customers, service and material and capacity planning.



Responsibilities:

S&OP:


  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments to lead the S&OP process and create the master production schedule.
  • Review sales forecast with the business managers on a monthly basis and suggest modifications consistent with knowledge of current and/or historical demand.
  • Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional materials as needed.
  • Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.
  • Perform supply-demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months.
  • Develop inventory targets and manage production to achieve targeted inventory levels on both a cost and unit basis.


    Master Production Schedule:


    • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.
    • Maintains master production schedule for the factory; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
    • Creates a rolling 3-month Master Production Plan for designated products. Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities. Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production Schedule, including manufacturing lead times.
    • Make delivery commitments for all products, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity.
    • Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels to ensure high service levels, i.e., product availability as appropriate.
    • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Schedule.
    • Regenerate and maintain a monthly Master Production Schedule to meet customer requirements to ensure inventory levels and production efficiencies


      MRP:


      • Accountable for running MRP in NetSuite.
      • Ensure coordination with planners to execute the Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
      • Analyze, organize, record and publish weekly and/or monthly graphs for planning and purchasing key performance metric indicators.
      • Timely reporting of key metrics.




        Qualifications:


        • Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain.
        • Forecasting and production planning skills. Extremely proficient with production planning systems.
        • Experience using MRP / ERP systems
        • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes.
        • Strong planning background in the materials, manufacturing and engineering environment.
        • A demonstrated background in low volume and high mix manufacturing.
        • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, business administration or a related field required.
        • At least five years of related experience required.
        • Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
        • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to clearly express oneself verbally and in writing in the English language. Communicate effectively with employees and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
        • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
        • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
        • Able to positively manage situations of a dynamic nature; to be able to modify plans, actions, and decisions considering changing situations and circumstances while still meeting, or proposing modified, deadlines.
        • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
        • Ability to be accurate, detail-oriented, and to remain calm in stressful situations.
        • Excellent customer focus with a high sense of urgency.
        • Proficient in MS office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)




          Salary & Benefits:

          The base salary range for this full-time position is $97,000 - $130,000. Your base salary and title will be determined based on the location, experience, qualification, skills, knowledge, level, and pay of employees in similar positions.
