Job Description:
The Director of Robotics & Controls - Controls, based in Santa
Clara, CA., will lead their team in the design of robotic control
algorithms for instruments to build a scalable OTTAVA robotic
surgical business impacting millions of patients and expanding the
capabilities of physicians globally. At Johnson & Johnson Robotics
and Digital Solutions, we're changing the trajectory of health for
humanity, using robotics to enhance healthcare providers' abilities
and improve diagnoses, treatments, and recovery times for patients.
Johnson & Johnson Robotics was established in 2020 with the
integration of Auris Health, Verb Surgical, C-SATS, and Ethicon. It
comprises three key med-tech platforms: Flexible Robotics
(MONARCH--), Surgical Robotics (OTTAVA---) and Digital Solutions.
Join our collaborative, rapidly growing teams based in the San
Francisco Bay Area (Redwood City and Santa Clara), Cincinnati, and
Seattle. You'll collaborate on breakthrough medical technologies
that unite multiple subject areas to build a connected digital
ecosystem that advances medical professionals' skills and improves
patient outcomes. This director will be a key technical and
strategic leader on one of the most exciting programs and J&J
and in healthcare in general! The candidate must bring a strong
blend of technical ability and people leadership to bear on this
critical role. They must also balance depth in robotics with a
passionate focus on understanding and meeting the needs of
clinicians and operating room staff. Responsibilities Lead and grow
a team of 25+ engineers and managers across two geographic campuses
in the development and implementation of algorithms to control
sophisticated robotic hardware for OTTAVA Establish team
initiatives to achieve program goals and improve functional
excellence Champion teamwork between the OTTAVA Hardware, Systems
Engineering, Software, and Robotics & Controls Instrument teams
across the Santa Clara and Cincinnati facilities Create and
implement standard processes of software development lifecycle
Mentor senior managers, managers, and individual contributors
Maintain functional alignment within OTTAVA R&D leadership
Provide strategic robotic control mentorship to the OTTAVA Senior
Leadership
