As a Staff Electrical Test Engineer, you will drive and own electrical test for various printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) used within a robotic platform for surgical applications. We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to innovate and produce test systems for PCBAs. The position also provides you an opportunity to build test platforms and develop software tools to automate test procedures for design verification work within the research & development team. Job Responsibilities Work closely with board designers to develop test requirements with formal documentation Perform DFT and feedback those results to designer to ensure boards can meet test requirements Select most appropriate test realization for business objectives, whether it is a manual, semi-auto, or fully automated solution. Architecture test systems: select appropriate fixture vendor for mechanical builds, and craft the appropriate electronics vital to meet test requirements Develop the algorithm to control and automate the test systems Write the software to perform PCBA test per test requirements Integrate, checkout, and validate test systems for sell-off to manufacturing teams Produce all technical documentations such as wiring diagrams and assembly drawings for those test systems to be released into PLM system Help drive any communication for external test houses used during testing Develop and maintain vendor relationship and continuously improve vendor processes and relationships Qualifications Required: Minimum B.S (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent) with 6+ years of industry experience or M.S (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent) with 4+ years of industry experience (coop/intern experience applies). Ability to work efficiently and independently within a team. Demonstrate task ownership in multi-functional environment; ability to serve as a domain specialist and own cross-functionally for testing/verification. Perform Design for Test for PCBAs. Expert knowledge and experience developing and documenting electrical tests for functional checkout of PCBAs. Expert experience in automation using Python for electrical test. Lead, develop, bringup and release of custom automated test systems, or bed-of-nail fixtures from requirements definition to final documentation release. Expert experience in performing failure analysis of electrical circuits and/or electrical test systems utilizing bench top equipment such as DMMs, PSUs, and oscilloscopes. Experience with hands on work such as soldering, fixture/chassis assembly, cable and wire harness assembly. Ability to work at the Santa Clara, CA site. Lead and foster strong and collaborative relationships working with manufacturing teams for product transfer, quality teams to ensure test systems adhere to quality standards, and documentation teams to ensure technical documents adhere to PLM requirements. Clearly communicate with interdisciplinary teams, both upstream and downstream to ensure successful delivery of test systems. Produce high-quality technical documentation that is clearly understandable by internal and external personnel. Preferred: Architect platforms, design processes, and invent methods to accelerate and scale test capabilities. Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers. Experience developing ICT/ FCT testers with external vendors for PCBA testing. Object oriented and multi-threaded programming. PCB design experience of low-noise analog, power electronics, high precision and high-speed digital design using Altium or other PCB design tools. Experience in Medical Device Design Control for IEC 60601, CISPR 22, UL in an FDA environment. Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance with ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.
