Our Software and Bioinformatics (SBI) group leverages the latest advances in AI, data sciences, bioinformatics and engineering to bring the power of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology to life sciences professionals enabling them the ability to diagnose, find treatment options and ultimately beat diseases like cancer, HIV and others. As we develop powerful bioinformatics algorithms, data analysis tools, cloud-based software, and systems infrastructures, we are delivering on the promise of personalized healthcare. As a Principal Software Engineer, you are joining a passionate software engineering team to build sequencing products for Oncology analysis to change patients' lives. You will design, implement, and lead the development of software features and product infrastructure, while working with cloud technology - AWS, serverless computing, Java, distributed platforms, Spring Boot, and more. Ultimately, the software you produce will impact patient care globally. Responsibilities:

• Software Development: propose and evaluate design options, review code, analyze requirements, implement high quality code and tests in areas of web APIs, databases, and Cloud-components, as well as data analysis pipelines.
• Leadership: be a hands-on technical leader on projects and work closely with architects, product managers, and other development leads and teams across sites to drive projects forward with high quality code, scalable and maintainable components, and delivering excellence on schedule. Mentor other engineers.
• Process & Operations: ensure test automation and regulatory compliance are embedded into software development practices and apply Lean principles in activities you participate in for the continuous improvement of how our teams function and the quality of the products we build.   • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or related technical discipline; Master's degree is preferred.
  • 6+ years of hands on experience in developing large-scale production code.
  • Experience building software products using Java and REST APIs.
  • Experience in the development and support of product-level bioinformatics pipelines and bioinformatics software is a must.
  • Experience leading bioinformatics projects while collaborating with Biologists or Bioinformaticians is a big plus.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Postgres, MySql.
  • Familiarity with the following technologies: Git, Jira, UNIX.
  • Familiarity in developing cloud solutions.
  • Dedication to Agile / Lean practices and scalable architecture.
  • Behavior and test driven development.
  • Ability to understand sophisticated workflows and graph structures. Nice to Have:
    • Familiarity in developing cloud solutions using AWS.
