Job Description:

Robotics and Digital Solutions, part of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, is recruiting for a Senior Principal Software Architect , located remotely in the United States or in Europe.

Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices is focused on shaping the future of digital surgery and expanding its robotics and digital solutions offerings across the entire portfolio, with multi-specialty, end-to-end solutions in orthopedics, endoluminal intervention and general surgery. This includes the MONARCH - platform, a first-of-its-kind robotic technology indicated for bronchoscopic visualization of and access to patient airways for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the lung.

The Digital Solutions group is building advanced technologies to improve healthcare, and we are looking for a Senior Principal Software Architect to join our team advancing our products to the next generation. This individual will be responsible for design and implementation of a reliable, scalable, state-of-the art software architecture, as an active participant in all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Define and drive software architecture to manage devices in the OR, connectivity to the hospital, on-premise and cloud applications as well as provide technical leadership for software development.
Using requirements developed through multi-functional team input design and develop large scale distributed software services and solutions in collaboration with stakeholder teams
Liaise and collaborate with other digital solutions groups to leverage synergies and potential integrations that provide customer value
Use best practices for building software under Design Control procedures for use in a medical device.
Design and implement services and software components that are well-defined, modularized, secure, reliable, reusable, diagnosable, and actively monitored.
Stay educated on the last technologies to evaluate technology fits for customer needs.
Work with cross-functional teams to develop, manage, and implement products and technology roadmaps in alignment with our long-term strategies.
Mentor developers and providing high level direction to teams.
Be accountable for software product strategy and execution.

Required

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
Multiple years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying large-scale services
Very strong software architecture, design, and documentation skills. Coding, development, and documentation skills is a plus
Experience in modern Cloud computing technologies. Multi-cloud deployment and cloud-native architecture experience is a plus
Experience in cybersecurity and software application security
Experience in domain driven design and events driven architectures.
Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, and database schema/structure design
Strong passion for delivering high-quality, large-scale services.
Knowledge of large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
Excellent knowledge of Linux, with solid understanding of the OS architecture
Experience with agile software development and deployment frameworks and methods
Strong customer focus with ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical teams to ensure continued stakeholder happiness
Highly self-directed and self-organized for focus
Fluent in spoken and written English, any other language each a plus
Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred
Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
Experience with medical device development
Experience with AI / Machine Learning and Data Analysis
Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) platforms and hybrid cloud infrastructures
Familiar with microservices architectures, container technologies, and service orchestration platforms
Familiar with computer vision, computer graphics and image processing
