Job Description:
We’re hiring a hands-on Director, Platform Data Solution
Architect to design and govern the end-to-end web and mobile app
data collection architecture from client-side instrumentation
through server-side pipelines so that downstream analytics,
experimentation, personalization, and activation teams receive
high-fidelity, privacy-compliant, well-documented event data. This
role partners deeply with Engineering, Product, Marketing,
Analytics, and Privacy/Legal to define standards, build reusable
patterns, and operationalize measurement at scale. Microsoft’s

every day. Responsibilities Oversees the reference architecture for
event instrumentation across, Web tag management, SDKs,
edge/server-side, consent gating Mobile (iOS/Android) via native
SDKs, wrappers, and mobile CDP/analytics SDKs Define and enforce
event taxonomy, naming conventions, parameter schemas, identity
strategy, and versioning (e.g., semantic versions for events).
Design patterns for high-traffic and modern frameworks:
React/Next.js, Angular, Vue, native iOS/Android, React
Native/Flutter (as applicable). Establish data layer contracts
(web) and tracking interfaces (app) that decouple product code from
analytics providers. Identity, consent, and privacy-by-design
Design identity resolution across anonymous ? authenticated
transitions using: First-party identifiers, device IDs (where
allowed), account IDs, hashed IDs Sessionization strategy and
cross-domain/app-web linking (where compliant) Implement
consent-aware signal collection Consent Mode / CMP integrations,
purpose-based gating, regional rules Data minimization: collect
only what’s necessary; field-level controls Ensure compliance with
applicable privacy/security policies: Measurement reliability &
observability Build a measurement QA framework: Automated
validation of events/parameters vs schema (CI checks, contract
tests) Runtime monitoring (volume anomalies, null rates,
cardinality spikes) Debug pipelines (tag debugger, proxy logs,
network captures, mobile logs) Create dashboards and alerts for
data health (e.g., Datadog/Grafana/CloudWatch/Azure Monitor). Data
classification, retention, encryption, access controls,
auditability DPIAs/PIAs, security reviews, and partner/vendor data
sharing controls Embody our culture and values . Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications Bachelors Degree in Computer
Science or related technical field AND 6 years technical
engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not
limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent
experience. Additional or preferred qualifications Masters Degree
in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8 years
technical engineering experience with coding in languages
including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or
Python OR Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical
field AND 12 years technical engineering experience with coding in
languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java,
JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 7 years in web data
architecture / analytics engineering / digital instrumentation,
including web mobile app event data 4 years experience of web
instrumentation: data layer design, tag managers, SPA tracking,
first-party cookies/storage, cross-domain 4 years experience
iOS/Android event logging, background/foreground behavior, offline
queueing, retries 4 years experience streaming batch architectures,
schema evolution, data modeling, partitioning, performance tuning 4
years experience translating ambiguous business measurement goals
into precise technical requirements and implementation specs 4
years experience working with privacy/compliance teams to build
privacy-safe measurement solutions. Software Engineering IC5 - The
typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD
$139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable
to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and
New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this
role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
