Job Description:
About us Encord is the universal data layer for AI that helps
300 AI teams train and run models on the right data. Our platform
indexes, curates, annotates, and evaluates data across the full AI
lifecycle, from development through production. Trusted by Woven by
Toyota, AXA, UiPath, Zipline, and more. We're an ambitious team of
100 working at the frontier of AI and have raised $60M in Series C
funding from Wellington Management, CRV, Next47 and Y Combinator.
The Role We're looking for a Developer Advocate AI/ML to become the
technical voice of Encord in the AI/ML developer community and
leadership ecosystem. You'll create compelling technical content,
speak at industry events, and build authentic relationships with
practitioners building production AI systems as well as technical
leaders shaping AI strategy. You'll represent Encord at major
conferences and technical meetups, engaging with everyone from
engineers to Directors of AI/ML, VPs of Engineering, and CTOs. This
role combines technical education with executive-level thought
leadership — producing tutorials and sample code for practitioners
while creating strategic content on AI infrastructure, team
scaling, and organisational best practices for technical leaders.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ML practitioner
to own a foundational developer relations function and grow your
personal brand across all levels of AI/ML communities. What you'll
do Build real-world examples and reference projects demonstrating
Encord workflows across AI/ML use cases, using these
implementations as the foundation for technical content including
blog posts, video tutorials, interactive notebooks, code samples,
and guides Speak at industry conferences and AI/ML meetups,
delivering technical workshops for practitioners and strategic
talks for engineering leaders on building effective AI teams and
infrastructure Build and nurture Encord's developer community
across various social platforms, engaging with individual
contributors, team leads, and technical executives Lead research on
emerging trends in foundation models and AI/ML, translating
developments into actionable insights for both practitioners and
leaders Serve as the voice of developers and technical leaders
within Encord, channelling feedback from engineers and strategic
insights from VPs and CTOs to Product and Engineering teams
Organise and host virtual meetups, community workshops, and
executive roundtables that bring together practitioners and leaders
around shared technical and organisational challenges Who we're
looking for An effective communicator who can explain complex
technical concepts clearly to engineers while articulating
strategic value and organisational impact to technical executives
Comfortable being the technical face of a rapidly growing company,
representing Encord credibly to both hands-on practitioners and
C-level technical leaders at industry events Self-directed and
entrepreneurial, able to identify opportunities and execute
independently in a fast-moving start-up environment Passionate
about helping developers solve problems and building technical
communities while understanding the broader organisational
challenges leaders face when scaling AI teams Experience
requirements 3 years of hands-on experience as an ML Engineer,
Computer Vision Engineer, or equivalent role, with a demonstrable
track record of building and deploying models in production
environments Strong Python proficiency and familiarity with ML
frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, with the ability to write
clean, well-documented reference code and tutorials that
practitioners can learn from and build on Proven experience
creating technical content — blog posts, notebooks, video
walkthroughs, or conference talks — that has reached and resonated
with a developer or ML audience Demonstrated ability to communicate
across audiences: translating low-level technical detail for
practitioners and framing strategic value and organisational impact
for VPs, Directors, and CTOs Experience representing a product or
technology externally — at conferences, meetups, or in online
communities — with comfort owning a stage and engaging
authentically with technical audiences at all levels Self-starter
with strong project ownership instincts, able to identify
high-impact opportunities and execute independently in a
fast-moving environment Bonus: Prior developer relations or
developer advocacy experience; an existing presence in the AI/ML
community (social following, published content, open-source
contributions); familiarity with data-centric AI, computer vision
pipelines, or multimodal data workflows Why Encord Competitive
salary, commission, and meaningful equity in a high-growth start-up
Clear, accelerated growth opportunities as the company scales
rapidly Strong in-person culture: 3–5 days/week in our newly
launched North Beach loft office Flexible PTO to fully recharge 18
paid vacation days in the U.S. plus federal holidays Annual
learning & development budget Comprehensive health, dental, and
vision coverage Frequent travel opportunities across the U.S.,
London, and Europe Bi-annual company offsites, twice-weekly team
lunches, and monthly socials
