ResponsibilitiesServe as active member of project teams, as needed,
providing legal support, including but not limited to: rendering
legal opinions with respect to patentability, validity, and freedom
to operate; supervising a patent portfolio and managing the
portfolio in strategic alignment with business needs and
priorities, including preparation, prosecution, maintenance and/or
defense of patent filings (EP, US, and further jurisdictions) and
patent office administrative actions (oppositions, inter partes
reviews, interferences, reexaminations, post grant reviews, and the
like).Provide clear, informed and sophisticated counseling to
stakeholders engaged in research & development, manufacturing,
business development/partnering, portfolio and lifecycle management
and commercialization activities.Apply knowledge of patent trends
and case law developments to devise patent strategies and
advice.Conduct due diligence assessments and counseling based on
these assessments, including freedom-to-operate, infringement and
validity analyses, and risk evaluation and mitigation.Manage
external relationships with outside counsel and collaborators,
including substantial interactions across a multicultural global
patent function.Support intellectual property-related transactional
projects (including MTAs, CDAs, research collaborations, and
licensing agreements) and litigation activities in close
collaboration with the Legal department.Serves as a trusted advisor
and partner to the business in navigating an evolving business and
legal landscape.Influential communicator and collaborative
relationship builder.Position Requirements Registered U.S. patent
attorney with 5 - 7+ years of experience law firm and/or a
corporate setting; law firm experience preferred.Experience in
handling IP in a biomedical, engineering and/or CII context. Prior
experience with diagnostic products, strongly preferred.Subject
matter flexibility. Technical knowledge across a number of
engineering disciplines and willingness to engage with patent
attorneys and clients regarding the application of engineering
technology to complex biological systems. Bachelor s degree in
Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering,
Biostatistics, Physics, Mathematics or similar fields is required;
Advanced Degree preferred;Admission to practice before the U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office required and preferred candidate holds
a law degree (JD) and is a member in good standing to practice law
in one or more of the 50 states or the District of
ColumbiaAgreement and transactional experience is desired, but not
required.This position may be based out of the Bay Area in
California, with remote work locations possible in The United
States. -----For Colorado-based applicants, the expected salary
range for this position is $170,000 - $200,000. New York
state-based applicants, the expected salary range for this position
is $185,000 - $215,000. Actual pay will be determined based on
experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted
by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on
individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies
