Our location inSanta Clara, Californiacurrently has an opportunity for aSenior EMC / Safety Product Compliance Electrical Engineer.WHAT YOULL DO+ Facilitate a systems-level approach to EMC and Product Safety compliance for new product development and existing product by collaborating with Abbott Electrical and Mechanical engineering as needed. + Write EMC Test Plans and Reports based on IEC/EN 61326-1, IEC/EN 61326-2-6, IEC/EN 60601-1-2 and other applicable external standards as needed + Able to set up EMC and Safety test equipment and write/maintain equipment operating procedures. + Perform and/or provide guidance on EMC testing as required by IEC/EN 61326 and IEC/EN 60601-1-2. Provide guidance to EMC test engineer as required. + Perform and/or provide guidance on Product Safety testing as required by UL/CSA/IEC 61010 , UL/CSA/IEC 60950/62368-1, IEC 60825-1, IEC 60601, IEC 61326-1 and IEC 61326-2-6. + Perform EMC troubleshooting of test equipment and equipment under test as needed and communicate any EUT performance issues as they occur. + Perform EMC/Safety assessments for proposed design changes and provide design recommendations to R&D engineers and management + Completes professional level engineering assignments related to EMC and Product Safety. Leads and participates in projects involving the design, fabrication, and manufacture of complex instrument subassemblies, systems or processes. + Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. + Interact with external certifying agencies during the creation and maintenance of Intertek and UL Files, CB Scheme and CE Marking Technical Files. + Uses technical knowledge and experiences to identify alternative design approaches. + Develops Simulations & Prototypes - Develops simulations or prototypes for new / modified subsystem or system designs and performs engineering analysis and testing. + Responsible for updating / creating detailed design specifications for components or subsystems. + Verifies Solution - Responsible for protocol development and verification of subsystem or system designs. + Documenting and Managing Change Justifies changes, quality and regulatory information, and manufacturing readiness information. + Completes change documentation to include technical rationale and formal verification test results. + Collaborates across functional areas - Interprets, presents, and delivers information with product team members, scientists, engineers, and other systems development personnel across sites. + Ensures quality through design Techniques and Design Alternatives - Leads and participates in Engineering Design Reviews utilizing Engineering Procedures and Engineering Tools,makes recommendations and identifies design alternatives. + Performs Investigations - Leads investigations to determine root cause for complex issues. + Arrives at timely conclusions. + Maintains adherence to the Quality System - Implements and maintains the effectiveness of the quality system. + Follows functional area policies and procedures. + Recommends improvements to policies and procedures. + Leads and Mentors - Trains and mentors associate engineers and engineers in design tools and processes.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOULL BRINGRequired+ Bachelor's degree in an engineering or closely related discipline preferred. + Applies engineering technical knowledge for specified engineering discipline for subsystem development. + In depth knowledge and understanding of product or discipline. + Moderate knowledge of external regulations and standards affecting IVDs and biologics. + 4 years progressive work experience with degree or sufficient transferable experience to demonstrate functional equivalence to a degreePreferred+ Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 to 8 years work experience in EMC and Product Safety testing. Advanced degree preferred + Medical Device Industry Experience Demonstrated knowledge of medical device design controls (21 CFR Part 820) and project management + Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable internal requirements and external regulations + Knowledge circuit design experience + Experience in manufacturing processes and methods desired, especially in the manufacturing of medical devices.WHAT WE OFFERAt Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
