Key Responsibilities

Applied Materials is looking for an experienced investigations and compliance paralegal to join our Global Ethics & Compliance team. This is a key role supporting an expanding legal team in conducting a broad range of global internal investigations and responding to compliance inquires. The role also includes supporting program initiatives aimed at mitigating compliance risk and helping to establish operational policies and processes that are consistent with industry best practices.

The team is looking for a talented, driven and highly organized compliance professional with project and matter management experience and an aptitude for cross-functional collaboration. This position requires excellent communication skills, proactive spirit and can-do attitude, and ability to support multiple tasks and individuals. The ideal candidate should exhibit the ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality and integrity, organization, attention to detail, and keen judgment for prioritization and execution in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support investigations of potential violations of company policy and/or law, including matter intake, background research, electronic document and data review, investigative interviews, report and memo drafting, and debrief meetings with leadership
  • Support effective implementation and administration of compliance monitoring tools and processes, including conducting reviews of submissions via the monitoring tools, corresponding with business partners, addressing simple inquires, and escalating where necessary
  • Support risk management processes related to third-party due diligence for business partners, conflict of interest disclosures, and gifts and entertainment approvals
  • Draft executive presentations, summaries, and reports using analytical features of monitoring tools and other resources
  • Develop recommendations based on investigative results, including programmatic remediations, business process improvements, and system changes
  • Generate new and positive ideas for improvements in processes, communications and planning
  • Prepare and update documentation related to various compliance initiatives, and work together with team members to implement new policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of paralegal, project management, legal operations, or similar experience
  • Experience working independently on day-to-day work
  • Experience in fast-pace environment with multiple tasks
  • Experience with MS Office (including MS Teams) and SharePoint applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate strongly preferred
  • Compliance certification welcome
