Key Responsibilities

Presents reliability status updates and reports to project teams and senior divisional and corporate management.

Functions as consultant to Engineering in Best Known Methods reliable design practices through participation in formal design reviews and engineering meetings.

Functions as corporate content expert in state-of-art commercial reliability practices.

Designs unique metrology systems for use in Engineering and Reliability testing.

Performs statistical analysis of laboratory, FMEA, field reliability data.

Supervises and reviews preparation of product, laboratory or vendor reliability test plans. Supervises testing of modules and systems. Makes recommendations for changes in the selection and application of components and systems. May propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.

Leads the development of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis with cross-functional teams.

Performs reliability allocation and reliability prediction modeling of components, modules and systems.

Partners with internal design teams and external suppliers to lead 8D analysis, Failure Analysis, identification of root cause and implementation of Corrective Actions.

Functional Knowledge

  • Demonstrates depth and/or breadth of expertise in own specialized discipline or field
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Equivalent certification with working knowledge of reliability analytics tools (Reliasoft, JMP, Minitab)

  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services


  • May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity

  • Leads others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
