GENERAL SUMMARY

As a Post Silicon Debug Engineer with a focus on ARM SoC components targeted at the data center, you will work to develop debug tools and methodologies to allow debugging the complexities of our SoC system. You will help set up methodologies, develop the required tools and scripts, verify the debug tool capabilities prior to Si, and execute debug of newly arrived silicon to ensure it meets the highest quality standards. You will also participate in architecture/product definition for the next generation of SoC by closing the loop with real silicon DFD/DFT.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Define and execute end-to-end debug capabilities at SOC and system level

  • Debug issues found during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs

  • Build a debug strategy that aligns with server-class compliance standards

  • Lead collaborative debug approach with multiple teams, and support SOC validation execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time

  • Work closely with supporting teams in design, diagnostics, emulation, firmware, design verification and software to ensure readiness for first silicon arrival, and debug of critical features

  • Develop deep knowledge of system DFD/DFT architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy

  • Drive technical innovation to enhance capabilities in IP debug including tools and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives

  • Support on customer platforms as requested by customer support teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5 to 10+ years of practical experience in post silicon debug of SoCs

  • Strong programming/scripting skills (C/C++, Python, Ruby, Perl, Tcl scripts)

  • Strong analytical skills for test creation and debug

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Must excel in a dynamic team working environment

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to independently drive tasks to completion

  • Leadership and mentoring skills a definite asset

  • Proven experience in SoC debug interfaces and protocols relating to JTAG, SCAN, tracing, performance counters and related protocols is a strong asset

  • Knowledge and experience in ARM Coresight specifications, ADI, IEEE JTAG standard, and debug script development

  • Knowledge of ARM platform architecture specifications like SBSA, SBMR and SBSG

  • Extensive experience in following technical areas:

  • Digital logic / platform design, verification, or post-silicon verification

  • ASIC debug techniques and methodologies

  • Familiarity with remote debug using server BMC access

  • Modern lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes

  • Computer hardware and architecture (experience with datacenter servers a plus)

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to mile.

  • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

  • Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting)

  • .Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
