We're looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to own the design and manufacturing process for the optical module packaging and interconnects (optical fibers, power, and data transfer) in our advanced-concepts Vision group. What You Will Deliver Lead in inventing and developing mechanical solutions for miniature robotic medical cameras, including optical alignment, sealing, hermetic feedthroughs, heat dissipation, high-speed electrical interconnects, and autoclave-able jacketing Solve thermal challenges to fuel new technologies like novel camera delivery architectures, higher-speed sensors, and higher-power on-tip LED illumination Be our domain expert in manufacturing materials and processes, especially elastomeric, metal, and ceramic sealing of microminiature components Work with optics and mechatronics engineers to craft new architectures and medium-volume processes for thinner and more flexible optical and electronics cabling and jacketing Work with Staff Mechatronics Engineer and the rest of our team to build supplier network and in-house tools to accelerate electrical and mechanical concept prototyping by 2-3x: in-house micro-3D printing, micro-machining, and assembly tools, quick-turn suppliers of high-speed multilayer PCBs, laser-welding and brazing, etc. Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
