In this role, you will be part of the boarder systems engineering team with a focus on robotics, control systems, and software development. Our team guides the definition and development of the system by maintaining a holistic view while balancing conflicting requirements, drivers, and constraints. Our team helps drive key architectural, design, and interface decisions and is responsible for ensuring the completeness and quality of the associated design controls and documentation. This position places an emphasis on working closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop complex system designs.

Key Responsibilities
Solve difficult problems related to design and building of surgical robotic systems
Provide technical insight to guide the broader design team though tradeoff decisions and design choices
Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and practices
Perform and document analyses that support requirement rationale and design constraints
Author architectural documents and technical reports that explain important decisions and guide future development. Keep these documents up-to-date with the state of the system
Provide technical expertise to senior leadership to support strategic and tactical decisions
Mentor systems engineers and other team members in technical area such as robotics, biomechanics, and data analysis
Train other team members in best practices and techniques for technical report writing

Education

Qualifications
MS/PhD in Controls, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or related field + 10 years experience

Required

Experience and Skills:
Expert knowledge of the design and application of surgical robotics
Proven ability to solve complicated robotics problems using simulations and analysis.
Deep knowledge of systems engineering practices and techniques
Highly polished writing skills that enable precision technical communication and understandable explanation of complex topics
Extensive experience in regulated industries such as medical device, aerospace, automotive, or defense
Experience leading people as both a direct manager, and as an informal technical leader
Ability to use data and logic along with interpersonal skills to influence peers and leaders
Able to work effectively in a large, complex team with peers of varied backgrounds and levels of experience.

Preferred
Experience with ISO/IEC standards for medical devices such as IEC 60601
