We are now looking for a highly motivated Thermal Engineer to join this dynamic and innovative Team to contribute towards developing the next generation of world-class products. -As an integral member of our One Team, you will support die through systems electronics cooling design and development while impacting all business segments including but not limited to Data Center, Automotive, Robotics, Graphics Cards, and NVIDIA Shield products. Your contributions will be directed towards influencing thermal elements of ASIC designs targeting optimal die layouts. You will develop technologies, processes, and collaborations to foster alignment considering chip to system integration to ensure the best products. What you will be doing:On this team, the goals and objectives are carried out through a high degree of collaboration and use of state-of-the-art methods and technologies, analytical and computational modeling, and laboratory validation of prototypes. These methods and processes are developed within NVIDIA's thermal team. Part of your responsibility is driving trade-offs and validation aligned with product goals while contributing from beginning to end (i.e., conceptualization to production).Collaborate with the ASIC and other teams to influence chip design, predict thermal implications of those designs at the die through product levels, including on-die sensor considerations, characterization to confirm designs, and design and/or influence new thermal solutions in anticipation of and to enable product goalsInvestigate relevant technologies and concepts while driving analysis and trade-offs aligned with product goals to consider implications of die layouts/power maps, and contributing to thermal solution designs from beginning to end (i.e., chip conceptualization through to system integration)Build and modify mockups/prototypes and characterize those assemblies, summarize and correlate data in order to modify and improve systemsAs a team, we develop test reports and summaries, perform analysis, and detail our efforts to broaden the knowledge of the team and companyContribute towards developing methods and processes within the NVIDIA cross functional teamWhat we need to see:Strong collaborative and communication/interpersonal skills, and specifically a proven ability to effectively guide and collaborate within a dynamic matrix environmentDeep understanding of thermal implications for die layout, die power maps, and power density from die to system with understanding of thermally related technologies and a passion about what you doAbility to visualize, clarify, and drive development needs individually and through cross-functional teams from concepts through system considerationsHands-on experience and proficiency in thermal evaluation of computer processors and systems to provide data-driven product design recommendationsSolid understanding of thermal theory and analysis tools related to heat transfer including excellent knowledge of at least one thermal analysis tool (e.g., IcePak, Flotherm, Fluent)BSME or equivalent experience.5+ years relevant experience in thermal product designWays to stand out from the crowd:Extensive experience with die-level thermal considerations for electronics coolingExtensive experience with electronics cooling in one of NVIDIA's core business areasExperience influencing and leading internal resources, and solid experience assessing thermal development and supply partnersWell-rounded background in die through product conceptualization, product design and manufacturing with good knowledge from die to product integrationA high level of knowledge/experience in product development and design while retaining an openness to out-of-the-box/unconventional ideasProcess and infrastructure development experienceNVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world's most desirable employers.
