Systems Integration Engineer, EV Charging

We site, build, and operate EV charging depots for commercial fleets across sectors ranging from delivery and distribution to autonomous vehicles and ride hailing. We're looking for innovative, people-first team members who understand that culture is critical to our ability to positively impact the world's transition toward clean energy and transportation. The Systems Integration Engineer, EV Charging will be integral to bridging Product, Operations, and Customer Solutions teams through systematically testing and validating integrated hardware + software functionality. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying our energy and charging solution(s) at the component and system levels, including EV and Charger interoperability, energy and power meters, security system, network communication, and their manageability by the proposed software solution. They would be thorough in documenting their observations of the systems which can enable the operations team when the systems go live on sites. The position entails designing and operating Voltera test lab(s) along with site development team, to suit comprehensive solution testing needs. This role also requires understanding the current and upcoming features of the solution deeply to develop the test plan for each new solution release. Candidates ideally reside in the Bay area or are willing to travel as often as twice a month for team collaboration. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Participate in development team planning and design sessions
  • Review product requirements/design documents to provide timely feedback
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities
  • Identify, record, document the observations thoroughly -
  • Engage with OEMs and service providers to track bugs -
  • Perform thorough verification testing when bugs are resolved
  • Develop technical documentation to support Construction and Operations teams
  • Track product readiness against PRDs
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned MUST-HAVE:
    • 3+ years' experience in a systems integration, testing, or a related technical product role
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related; Electrical major a plus;
    • Proven working experience in hardware/software testing in EV Charging or related domain
    • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and processes
    • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
    • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
    • Hands-on experience with handling EV Chargers and EVs
    • Strong enthusiasm to learn and get hands on experience on EV, EV Charging and Energy Management technologies.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to document plans, issues, and results for tests.
    • Strong communications, both written and verbal, in leading teams and coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure. -
    • Excellent problem analysis, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Superb ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities
    • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables. -
    • Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to 'getting a job done'
    • Superb ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers NICE-TO-HAVE:
      • Solid knowledge of charging protocols like OCPP and OCPI
      • Experience with performance and/or security testing LOCATION:
        • Hybrid - San Francisco Bay Area, CA / -Santa Clara, CA Compensation: $105,000 to $140,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
