Supplier Quality Engineer - Innovative Company

Job Description:

leading manufacturer of ceramic components in the semiconductor equipment industry headquartered in Santa Clara, California. We currently have an opening for a Supplier Quality Engineer who will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to procurement of materials and parts; and managing the quality-assurance function of the company.



Position Summary:


Responsible for coordinating all activities related to procurement of materials and parts; and managing the quality-assurance function of the company to ensure that the quality of materials and parts meets customer and company quality requirements as well as contract specifications while maintaining production flow by performing the following duties. This position also leads the Company?s procurement team to support Japan?s procurement requirements.



Essential Job Functions:


Supplier Management


-Evaluates potential suppliers using criteria such as industry experience, capacity, quality standards and financial stability


-Acts as the interface between Japan and the suppliers to communicate Japan?s requirements to suppliers effectively and accurately


-Visits suppliers and/or customers to participate in production planning meetings and/or to provide supplier performance improvement programs


-Monitors and analyzes supplier quality performance through CPK/PPK and PPM levels and reports to senior management


-Keeps both Japan and suppliers informed on internal developments or changes in market conditions that might affect demand for suppliers' products or services



Quality Control


-Inspects incoming/outgoing materials and parts to determine compliance with order specifications, compliance with the Company's quality control system for requirements and for conformity to specified standards


-Maintains frequent communications with suppliers and Japan


-Reviews Discrepant Material Report (DMR) and Non-Conformant Records (NCR) received from customers; evaluates and communicates solutions with suppliers and Japan


-Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, such as Eight Disciplines Problem Solving (8D), 5-WHYs, Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and Corrective Actions Preventative Actions (CAPA) etc. to ensure complete and effective root cause analysis and corrective action implementation



Procurement Duties


-Oversees activities related to procurement of materials and parts beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.


-Communicates in a professional manner with supplier(s) (i.e. in providing RFQ, negotiating pricing, delivery schedule) & Japan (i.e. in providing delivery schedule to Japan)


-Creates and arranges periodical (i.e. annual) cost reduction negotiation with suppliers


-Receives and unpacks materials and supplies; checks damaged goods and verifies quantity and quality of order; wraps, packages and prepares materials and supplies for shipment; stocks shelves and physically checks inventory



Minimal Required Essential Job Skills


-Proficiently communicates in writing and verbally in English


-SAP knowledge and experience


-Office productivity software (intermediate level): Excel, Word, & PowerPoint or similar software


Qualifications


-Bachelor's Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience


-3 yrs of customer service experience in the semiconductor industry environment


-Strong organizational skills
