Job Description and QualificationsAir Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an experienced PIPELINE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN for its Santa Clara, CA facility.The Santa Clara, CA facility includes: 3 ASU plants, 1 nitrogen liquefier, 1 oxygen plant, 1 argon plant, 2 customer nitrogen plants, and the nitrogen tank farm / pipeline systems. The Pipeline Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining daily pipeline activities, supporting the site's safety systems and equipment while complying with all EH&S standards associated with Air Products and the Santa Clara facility. You will also be responsible for supporting plant maintenance activities to include plant PM's, maintenance outage support, instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting, and general mechanical support. The position is also required to maintain occasional on-call service during nights and weekends as responsibilities are distributed by the maintenance supervisor.The Pipeline Maintenance Technician's primary responsibilities will be focused on tasks associated with the prevention of damage to the Air Products Nitrogen pipeline, as assigned by the plant Maintenance Supervisor, with secondary responsibilities in plant maintenance.Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:--- Respond to one call (DigTix) notifications--- On-call response to pipeline/plant callouts during off-hours (nights and weekends) including supporting operation plant startups and vacation coverage.--- Underground utilities location using locating equipment common to excavation industry.--- Meet with contractors, designers, city representatives to evaluate pipeline crossing activities and to ensure pipeline integrity.--- Review / respond to design requests and submittals. Read and understand pipeline drawings.--- Regular patrols of pipeline to ensure normal operation. Monitor excavation work.--- Scheduling and supporting pay meter calibrations and periodic preventative maintenance.--- Monitor cathodic protection for underground pipeline.--- Participation in pipeline training opportunities (some travel required --- Maintaining pipeline signage and field equipment as needed per APCI PM system for pipelines.--- Use gas sampling monitors to ensure safe work environment (confined space awareness).Participate in routine safety meetings, site safety activities and maintenance planning and scheduling meetings as required.--- Performing monthly routine preventative maintenance orders and record keeping.--- Manage new/spare parts and supplies.--- Must be well organized and maintain flexibility to accommodate changing priorities, and able to manage multiple projects.Experience / Education Desired:--- High school diploma or equivalent--- Mechanical equipment service experience--- Previous work history and/or military experience--- Experience with troubleshooting instrumentation and electrical circuits preferred.--- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and be capable of interacting with a diverse team of people with various backgrounds and interests.--- Basic PC proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
