Job Description:
Seeking a talented Electrical or Computer engineer for the
Macintosh System Architecture team.This position is a
multi-disciplinary and cross-functional lead engineer. This person
will be integral to defining and influencing new products and their
hardware and software design. This person will develop and drive
cross-functional teams at the system architecture level to optimize
system power consumption and enable Apple to build products that
excel in power efficiency as well as performance. This position
requires strong analytical, system modeling, and communication
skills. Key Qualifications
- Experience in Control Loop Design in power management for
mobile and desktop computer architectures
- Must have strong EE fundamentals; demonstrated design, debug,
test plan creation & characterization experience
- Ability to create, review, approve engineering requirement
specification documents
- Experience with chip & system level power saving features
- Ability to understand how software interacts with HW in
implementing power management features
- Understand schematics and PCB designs and use them to bring-up,
probe, and debug boards
- Experience in working hands-on in lab environment
- Ability to summarize and effectively communicate technical
issues and actions to key stakeholders and leadership teams.
Description Provide architectural guidance and leadership to
cross-functional engineering teams to establish new product
definition and requirements on power management features.-Influence
system design behaviors and states-Negotiate development goals
among a broad group of architects and system engineers, technical
leads, HW & SW engineering managers, and external
vendors-Facilitate, organize, rally resources and experts as
neededProvide System Control guidance to achieve great user
experience in battery life and system performance.-Establish and
drive workload power budgets at system and module levels-Specify,
negotiate, and document system power management & user level
behaviors-Define system telemetry needs; collect/analyze/ debug
subsystem power. Navigate and utilize schematics, BOMs, technical
documentation-Perform and guide power measurements on device
hardware to help validate power models-Analyze large complex data
sets, track issues, and summarize conclusionsReview, challenge, &
influence people and process.-Define, develop, and utilize tools,
scripts, automation, and methods of system analysis-Mentor junior
engineer for best practices in systems development-Provide guidance
and enthusiasm to negotiate development process &
capabilities-Generate and present material for internal review to
upper management, key stakeholders, and technical decision
makersPreferred Tools-Matlab, R, JMP or other data analytic /
statistic / simulation tools-Scripting tools (e.g., Python, PERL,
C, Excel Macros, Excel VBA)-Productivity (e.g., Keynote, Numbers,
Pages; Powerpoint, Excel, Word; Omnigraffle)This role may require
occasional domestic and international travel. Education &
Experience BS EE, with 10 years of relevant industry
experience.
