$9460 per Course Equivalent (CE) Purpose: Purpose: The School of
Engineering seeks a dynamic quarterly adjunct lecturer (QAL) for
the 2023-2024 academic year to teach undergraduate level ECEN
courses and labs. The successful candidate will possess excellent
communication skills, a solid commitment to innovative teaching
methods, and the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the
diversity, equity, and inclusion goals of the University.
Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary engineering is desired
as well as a dedication to the well-being and advancement of
students, colleagues, the School, and the discipline of electrical
engineering. They will be expected to be able to teach in our
undergraduate programs. - Santa Clara University operates on a
quarter system. Each quarter (fall, winter, and spring) is 10 weeks
long, with an extra week for final examinations. Undergraduate
classes are typically offered either three times a week
Monday/Wednesday/Friday for 1 hour 5 minutes per session or two
times a week Tuesday/Thursday for 1 hour 40 minutes and are
typically four units. We also offer 1 unit courses and labs which
are typically only taught once per week, courses for 1 hour 5
minutes, and labs for 2 hours 45 mins. - QALs are allowed to teach
up to 4 course equivalencies (CEs) per academic year with no more
than 2 CEs in any particular quarter. Additionally, QALs are
allowed to teach an additional 2 CEs during the summer terms.
Generally, course equivalencies are: UNDERGRADUATE: 4 unit lecture
= 1 CE 1 unit lab = 0.5 CE 1 unit lab with a teaching assistant =
0.25 CE Basic Qualifications: Earned graduate degree (Ph.D.
preferred) in the electrical engineering field. At a minimum,
candidates should hold a Master's degree with equivalent
experience. Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated excellence in
teaching electrical engineering concepts at the undergraduate
level. Responsibilities:Teach one or more undergraduate Electrical
Engineering courses and participate in all related activities,
including:1. Prepare and conduct all assigned class meetings2.
Assign and evaluate/grade student work appropriately3. Be available
to students for consultation outside of class4. Assign student
grades appropriately and submit them on time to the Office of
Student Records5. Conduct course assessments as required by the
department6. Complete and submit time cards every two weeks 7.
Comply with university and school policies, including those
delineated in the School of Engineering Term Faculty Handbook
