DEPARTMENT OVERVIEWSystemwide Employee & Labor Relations fosters employee engagement, negotiates and administers local and systemwide labor agreements and provides multi-faceted support toward ensuring an inclusive, diverse, collaborative and productive work environments across the UC system.POSITION SUMMARYThis is a TEMPORARY position within our Temporary Office of the President Staffing (TOPS) program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide dedicated analytical support to a team of busy labor relations professionals
  • Handle critical, confidential and attorney-client-privileged information directly related to union collective bargaining agreements, negotiations, union grievances, contract management, union requests for information under HEERA, represented employee data sets, and wage implementation related decisions and plans
  • Perform intake and workflow management for various labor relations processes including grievances, parameters requests, requests for information and other bargaining-related needs including contract management
  • Case management and tracking of information primarily related to grievance processing, parameter requests, requests for information and other bargaining-related activities for Systemwide Labor Relations
  • Develop expertise in UC data systems and applications related to the management of represented employee data including UCPath, Cognos and FTP/GoAnywhere
  • Handle large, complex and confidential data sets; perform data entry and analysis; update records; produce detailed reports using SmartSheet, Excel and other programs as needed
  • Manage flow of sensitive represented employee data between UCOP, UC locations and unions
  • Timely and highly accurate updating of critical UCNet webpages related to specific union contracts and the collective bargaining process
  • Communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner across all levels of the organization and with external partners including other UC locations and union representatives
  • Electronic document management of confidential and attorney-client-privileged materials via NetDocs, UCOP share drive, Box, SharePoint, SmartSheet and other systems as needed
  • Provide back-up support for operational tasks in the following areas:
    • Business systems support including Concur/Connexxus, Box, SharePoint, SmartSheet, T:drive.
    • Signature routing via DocuSign as needed, ensuring that proper content and format guidelines are followed
    • Monitor and manage department email accounts, adhering to department protocols
    • Meeting and event support (in-person, online or hybrid) including scheduling, agendas, notes, and logistics
    • General office support as neededMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      • Two years related experience
      • Strong proficiency in common computer applications and productivity tools including web-based applications and systems
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
      • Comfortable working with multiple teams, including leadership, SMEs, and cross-functional stakeholders
      • Skilled in managing multiple tasks, prioritizing urgent matters, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Detail oriented
      • Strong ability to maintain accuracy in data entry, case record updates, and report generation
      • Ability to develop templates and streamline processes for efficiency and consistency
      • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, ensuring compliance with privacy and confidentiality standardsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
        • Background in human resources and/or employee and labor relations
        • Knowledge of case management and business systems (e.g., SharePoint, SmartSheet, NetDocs)
        • Familiar with labor law, employment policies and regulations
        • Data system development and implementation experienceEDUCATION
          • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.SPECIAL CONDITIONSThis position is eligible for a remote work arrangement. The person hired will be required to reside within California.SALARY AND BENEFITSThe University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the salary grade for a position.
