Job Description:
Position Overview:The Director, IT will play a critical role in
supporting Velo3D's user growth and physical expansion. This
hands-on role is responsible for all User Services across multiple
locations, project management, security and compliance, and
department management.Essential Job Functions:
- General IT Management:
- Support a growing technical and non-technical user base.
- Design and implement a scalable, user-friendly experience using
technologies like Virtualization, MDM, SSO, and cloud
services.
- Lead the User Services team, embodying Velo3D's principles and
values.
- Develop processes and procedures to support company growth and
site expansion.
- Create support models, including response plans for individual
sites and the entire organization.
- Establish hardware and software standards for all users and use
cases.
- Coordinate desktop support activities, including installations,
upgrades, and configuration issues.
- Manage training and communication programs for computer
users.
- Oversee the multi-site Help Desk team.
- Develop and manage training/development plans for direct
reports.
- Track maintenance renewals and subscriptions for User Services
hardware and applications.
- Define, publish, and improve User Services metrics.
- Contribute to and monitor budget and purchasing for user
activities.
- Oversee the IT helpdesk functionality and improvements.
- Network Management:
- Provide Tier 2 support and act as a technical escalation
point.
- Build and support Velo3D's IT infrastructure, both cloud-based
and on-premises.
- Enhance software systems through design improvements and new
features.
- Develop automation scripts and tools to improve
efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems and
processes.
- Implement and improve monitoring, alerting systems, and
dashboards.
- Use metrics to evaluate IT operations objectively.
- Support cloud and site networks, including VPNs and ISP
connectivity.
- Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer.
- Prioritize security in system design, processes, and daily
operations.
- Execute projects with attention to detail and quality.
- Recommend and utilize service or application integrations.
- Security and Compliance:
- Develop policies, standards, procedures, and controls for
information security.
- Lead security compliance assessments (SOX, ISO, NIST, CIS,
etc.).
- Collaborate with business leaders to address security
risks.
- Assist in responding to RFPs and security questionnaires;
maintain documentation.
- Manage audit gaps, remediation, and progress reporting.
- Identify and mitigate security risks, reporting findings to
leadership.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, MIS, or Computer Science.
- At least 10 years of IT experience, including service delivery
management.
- Experience managing multi-site Service Desk/Help Desk
teams.
- Deep knowledge of desktop OS, Active Directory, Office 365,
VMWare, MDM, RMM.
- Experience with tertiary equipment and ITSM tools like
ServiceNow.
- Understanding of AV systems, Zoom, SSO, MFA, and ITIL
practices.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical
audiences.
